National Healthcare Infrastructure

Some countries with national health care systems have a universal infrastructure for maintaining records. Canada and the UK are two examples from the developed world. These centralized systems do increase the accessibility and portability of medical records. On the other hand, they require significant investment and oversight from the central government and reduce the flexibility for individual providers to serve their patients.

Interoperability can be an issue when traveling or they attend private clinics.

SharedRecords provides an alternative approach to creating appropriate infrastructure for sharing records without requiring government management of patient records.
